About the DDALW Project

The Exhibition:
This exhibit will feature artists that have suffered from some type of abuse (physical, emotional, mental, sexual), neglect, and mental anguish or their artwork someway teaches awareness, helps express what others who have been abused can't. This exhibit will not be for the faint of heart, because it's about truth, reality and awareness.

Who am I?

My name is Aunia Kahn, and I am a mixed media, professional artist, photographer, musician/vocalist, graphic & web designer, animal advocate, and an abuse survivor who has come through with flying colors dealing with a panic disorder, OCD and a few other quirks.

Why am I doing this?
Someone needs too, would be the very simple answer, but moreover it is because of my need to bring to the forefront a light on the darker side of art that artists create. Darker art, or art that has a really deep emotional effects on the viewer can be the most healing, but most often it is not given the opportunity to be shown at venues or shared with the world. So it stays hidden, and I feel that we need to use out voices for ourselves and for others who can’t. Bring awareness. Stand up!

Something Special:
There are a few artists involved that are creating work just for this show, there are artist that have work never shown because there was never a right place to put such work, and now is the time to see some of the most impacting creations from some really awesome artists that have come through some of life’s biggest challenges on the other side as successful creators.
